Sophia Fricker is the charity's Head of Marketing and Conference Partnerships.  Her design expertise has produced all its branding and marketing materials.  She also works closely with each of our Conference Partners to maximise our impact for them.

HeuristicDev is a UK charitable organisation (CIO Foundation – registration pending) dedicated to promoting diversity and equality of opportunity in Digital Technology and STEM. We provide education, training, and mentoring programmes that empower people who are under-represented in tech to thrive.

Why is The Mentoring Hub needed?

As of 2025, women make up only around 26% of the UK tech workforce — meaning that for every woman in the industry, there are roughly three men. The Mentoring Hub’s services play a crucial role in changing this imbalance, supporting women and other under-represented groups to enter, progress, and flourish in their tech careers.

New Speaker Academy

Join us at our stand to learn about the New Speaker Academy — a structured programme designed to build confidence and help aspiring speakers share their voices. Participants are paired with a mentor who supports them step by step through creating sessions, crafting submissions, and presenting at lightning talks, user group events, and conferences — both online and in person. The academy also includes a comprehensive course to guide each speaker through their personal development and speaking journey.
