Session Description

The goal for this presentation is to assist operators in identifying the why behind the work they do through the lens of the Colorado Discharge Permit. The presentation will look at a brief history of Clean Water Regulation and Colorado’s Discharge Permit System. There will be a discussion on how different aspects of the wastewater treatment process achieve the requirements of the discharge permit including a review of nutrient removal. The presentation will conclude with how compliance with the discharge permit is evaluated from the discharge monitoring reports (DMR) and compliance evaluation inspections (CEI). This will include practical steps operators can take to maintain compliance with their permit by avoiding common DMR mistakes and CEI findings.
