Session Description

The presentation will provide overview potential funding sources for water and wastewater projects. Funding is dynamic and is always evolving; each year, this presentation is updated to provide the most up-to-date opportunities. The significance is that projects need to be appropriately scoped for rural communities, along with maximizing grant dollars through leveraging. This is the only way projects can be affordable for small communities. The learning objective is for communities not to feel overwhelmed by the price tag of a project, knowing that many agencies provide grant/loan funding. One goal specifically for 2026 will also be to prepare the project to be the most ready when funding is available. Funding scenarios will be provided of actual projects to show how leveraging can be completed. The funding sources discussed will be the SRF, DOLA, USDA-RD, and Federal Grants, all specific to water and wastewater projects.
