James Parkes

Senior Product Manager - Microsoft Teams Media Quality
Microsoft

Biography

James Parkes is a Senior Product Manager at Microsoft focused on building intelligent solutions that help Microsoft Teams administrators proactively manage call quality, reliability, and supportability at scale. He leads products across areas such as call quality analytics, anomaly detection, diagnostic tooling, and automated troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on turning complex telemetry into clear, actionable insights for IT admins.

Having spent time in customer-facing roles in both Microsoft partner and Microsoft FTE contexts over the last twenty years, James brings a deeply technical yet customer-centric perspective to product strategy, driving efforts to reduce investigation time, improve root-cause attribution, and enable faster resolution of user-impacting issues. His work centers on making Teams admin experiences more intuitive, consistent, and effective, spanning tools like the Call Quality Dashboard, Real-Time Analytics, Silent Test Calling, Best Practices Configuration dashboard, and has recently begun collaboration with the Windows team to use the lessons learned from Teams media to better support Windows 365 Cloud PC admins.

James hails from Calgary, Canada, and when he isn't brainstorming the next advancement in Teams call quality management tooling or bossing around Claude Code and his Ollama agents, he is an avid car enthusiast and can be found meddling with British performance cars. He is also a terrible golfer.
