Understanding Microsoft 365 Updates: Making Sense of Change in an Evergreen Platform

25th Jun 1:15pm - 2:00pm BST Continental
12 attending
Session Description

Most IT teams still think about updates the way we used to with on-prem software. Predictable releases, fixed schedules, and clear version numbers. Microsoft 365 does not work that way. Updates happen continuously, they are rolled out in stages, and visibility can vary dramatically between tenants.

This session cuts through the confusion. We will explain how Microsoft actually deploys changes, including rings, channels, and staged rollouts, and why two organisations can see the same update at very different times. You will learn how to interpret roadmap information and Message Center posts in a way that reflects real-world behaviour rather than idealised release dates. Along the way, we will ground these concepts with concrete examples, including how modern features like Copilot are introduced and managed.

By the end of the session, you will understand how updates flow through Microsoft 365, what you can realistically plan for, and how to set expectations and processes that help your organisation stay ahead of change without unnecessary disruption.
